Suitcase

The suitcase lies like a dead planet on the track.
The echo brushes it, returning in fragments of zipper and folded postcards.
The cold counts its secrets with fingers of rust.
A train passes, leaving a word of steam: goodbye, perhaps not.
The fabric answers with a sigh that belongs to no one.
On the snow, the buttons trace a small map of absence.
