The Lost Scent of Stellar Dust

In every grain of dust, a faded star,
A silent echo, an aroma never bloomed.
Not that which earthly scent or human nose
Defies its wandering path.
But a lost scent, arcane and mute,
That the cosmic void has always held.

For perhaps a metallic chill, an ancient memory
Of hydrogen that dances in faint fires,
Or the bitter taste of toil
Of stars born and extinguished in infinite plays.
An efflux of time, never breathed,
In every atom forever sealed.

It is a void within us, a hole in the soul,
The celestial faculty we never knew.
An absence that binds us, silent and unanimous,
To the vastness I can never fully embrace.
And desire remains, light and nameless,
For a scent that calls us, beyond the canopy
Of galaxies, where silence is an aroma.
