The Secret Diary of the Waves

At the crest’s tips they write at dawn,
a foam calligraphy that weighs like remembrance,
tracing storm-dates upon the shoreline’s rim.
Learning to keep the salt, each grain a name,
the tides repeat like patient masters,
until the flavor is more than just the wind.
Within the journal, words dissolve, leaving only traces,
the harbors receive letters of taste and memory,
and the waves, by evening, know how to bring the sea home.
