Underground Breath

The city’s breath descends into the drains,
a puff of iron that pulses through the walls.
The corridors stretch like extinguished lungs,
and Leco counts the beats within the pipes.
Subterranean roots grow among the tubes,
tightening copper joints and greasy screws.
Their sap is a silence that bends the metal,
a secret green that feeds the shadow.
Only those who listen to the void smell ancient stories—
abandoned names, journeys of water and light.
They are told in a wounded and slow voice,
until the city comes to ask for peace.
