The Zipper’s Stuck Smile

The zipper, a slender river of metal,
promised to flow without any hitch at all.
A groove of teeth, an ancient and beautiful pact,
between two shores of fabric, a common destiny.
Every thread awaited its smooth embrace,
the precise closing, a sigh of peace.

But a mischievous flap, of distracted weave,
a rebellious embroidery or the tired, soft hem,
has set an ambush, the harmony broken,
among steel rails, like wild roots.
A tooth has caught, the step no longer free,
a sob of fabric, a silent stone.

It is not the shadow that flees, nor the hidden beat,
but a mute friction, an untamed grip,
the fiber imprisoned, the motion now contained,
a small war without any contestation.
In its heart of gears, a fiber breathes,
a secret bond, that waits and sighs.
