The Rebellion of the Solitary Stroke

On faded canvas, cradled by other signs,
slept a stroke, son of a brush
that etched a sky, a face or slender flower.
It was a boundary, a shadow among designs.
But in the dense ink, without deceit,
a germinated idea, a beating of its own,
not an imposed border, but a reason why
that challenged the eternity of years.

It did not want to be part of the whole,
neither curved line nor flat horizon.
It dreamed of the air, its unexpected
flight, far from every theme.
It wanted to break the fixed pigment,
a mute echo, a cry within a color,
to be the beginning and then the error,
the living shard in a still universe.

And so, while the others embraced
in known forms and harmonies of light,
that single sign, with rebellious cross,
chose detachment. The fibers cried to it
to stay, but its arcane essence
stretched beyond the painted boundary,
a free whisper, never extinguished,
stain of audacity, and of sovereign soul.
