The Cathedral of Slow Dripping

From the humid vault, a pearl descends,
It is no dew, nor a tear in vain,
But millennia of silence that expends,
Patient erosion, an arcane stain.
Each drop a breath, an era fades away,
A crystalline eternity engraved today.

The darkness is a veil for a silent soul,
That ignores the sun, the cry of the bird.
It measures time with a fall,
A mute thud within a vast hall.
Heroic solitude, form and substance,
Of a wait that holds no more importance.

Its destiny is the meeting it does not know,
With the sister that rises from below.
A slow column that will come,
To break the mineral silence numb.
And in that cold embrace, stone and time,
A single essence, beyond every clime.
