Sunken Names

The mouth of the wind yawns over the abyss,
murmuring lost names among streams of salt,
peaks of submerged castles tremble faintly.
Names without land, only sail and stone,
slide through the algae like stray stars,
memory resists, floating in silence.
When the swell subsides, I hear the elusive tongue,
every name is a sail seeking a shore,
and the wind closes its mouth leaving a map upon the sea.
