Crystal Doubt

A single crystal, born without haste,
from the grey veil of a captive sky,
trembles and descends in imperfect grace,
a first flake, from its kingdom nigh.
It knows neither earth, nor the flawless height,
only the void that pulls it, unknown port.
No trace remains, no path ever lit,
no brother to show it where sport.
A freezing wind, a whisper revealed,
pushes it slowly through clouds and new test.
Will it be an ephemeral ice, a dream repealed?
Or rest lightly on leaves, beneath the crest?
Melancholy of a solitary way,
of a fate written, yet still concealed.
In its cold heart, a faint murmur starts to play:
“Each fall is a gesture, a flower revealed.”
And though not knowing its final scene’s array,
it lets itself go, a kiss to the world conveyed.
