Breath of Stone

The stone’s breath is quiet, ancient,
listens to echoes of forgotten dreams,
beneath the pavement where time is held,
and the city holds a breath of memory.
Each dream breathes ‘midst the cracks and roots,
returns light, brushing past the shade,
the stone protects it, slow and deep,
until dawn clothes it in a brand new light.
