The will of a filament

A glass ledge, one last farewell,
Tungsten breaks in a silver arc.
He pours light into the short oblivion,
without the noise of a second thought.

The heat remains on the tired bulb,
ghost of a sun enclosed in the shell.
The void now lives in the inhabited place,
while the shadow stretches beyond the door.

Explanation

Lirica examines the metaphysical transition between presence and absence, using the exhaustion of an electrical component as allegory of finitude. In the first stanza, attention focuses on the subtaneity of detachment. The rupture of metal material generates a chromatic reverb that precedes oblivion, describing an event that does not give space to rethinking or temporal dilation. Extinguishing is presented as a definitive act without uncertainties, where matter ceases to serve brightness in a single decisive moment.

The second movement of poetry moves on the sensory and spatial dimension of loss. The residual heat on the vitreous surface serves as a thermal relic of a vitality that has already been spent, comparing the energy lost to a miniature star that is now off. The tipping between the full operation and the void of the ceased activity highlights a domestic desolation that reverberates outward. The shadow projecting beyond the immediate environment transforms a small everyday event into a universal reflection on the silence that follows every end.
