The Whisper of the Moment

The ticking grows faint,
like a whisper of barren toil,
a clock that dreams of escape,
of losing time like a flower through the fingers.
But the dream slips through the minutes,
a wave breaking endlessly,
remains the stuttering silence of an hour,
in the wish to flee, to be quenched.
