A Tail of Stars and Forgotten Wares

The stalls unfold their cardboard chests,
displaying wishes bruised like off-season fruit.
The wind tallies lost commas in the whispers,
and shadows make offerings with hands already bare.
The stars await in a line, each bearing a small gleam,
trading ancient dust for dreams stitched by chance.
A cat-mercantile sets prices on the moon’s palm,
and discarded wishes find a place where they can shine.
